Prompted by the urging of tens of thousands of Lyrics Born fans on Twitter and Facebook, what started as an occasional humorous Tweet, has finally developed into a book. Yes, Bay Area is a two-year compilation of insightful musings on the rich, diverse, and often quirky culture of the San Francisco Bay Area. With his signature style and sense of humor, LB delivers Tweet after randomly hilarious Tweet with an inside edge that only a lifelong resident and native son of "The Bay" can. Yes, Bay Area is as much a travel and culture guide as it is an homage to the uniqueness of the San Francisco Bay Area. As a self-described "Slasher," he has spent the past twenty years forging a successful career as an award-winning rapper, em-singer, songwriter, producer, performer, and voice-over talent. In the '90s he co-founded the seminal independent record label Quannum Projects, and has released eight albums including Later That Day, As You Were, and Latyrx, The Album as half of the duo Latyrx alongside Lateef the Truthspeaker. His music and voice-overs have appeared in countless movies, television shows, video games, and commercials, and he continues to be a mainstay on the worldwide touring and festival circuit. He is currently working on his ninth full-length release, Latyrx, The Second Album. About First Person Singular Premiered in August 2010, First Person Singular is a dramatic reading series "that means to redefine not only the literary event but the literary as such" --Greil Marcus, The Believer. Bringing dynamic performers to timeless material in all-original programs, the series places special emphasis on the richness, variety, and vitality of the American voice. From August Wilson to Warren Zevon, from a 60's girl-group song recital to an all-female reading of Glengarry Glen Ross, First Person Singular showcases the best of our culture in unique and unexpected ways. The series has been presented by Pegasus Books, The Museum of the African Diaspora, The Shotgun Players, and Litquake. First Person Singular was recently honored with an Outstanding Event Award from the Northern California Independent Booksellers Association, and a Best of the East Bay award from The East Bay Express: "Best Remixed Literary Event."
